Moto-Chic

{Pairing the boots with riding pants and shorts, easy and comfortable combo}

While shopping in LA I spotted a girl in a boutique with impeccable style.  (Wish I took a picture...)  Long, dark, Kardashian-esque locks, black slouchy rocker tee, shiny black leggings, and Frye motorcycle boots.  (Can you tell I was staring?)  I love to get inspiration from other fashionable women and LA is chock full of just that.  After inevitably creepily staring at this girl for about five minutes, I asked her what kind of boots she was wearing and complimented her style in a "I'm-not-trying-to-hit-on-you-or-kidnap-you" kind of way.

I immediately scampered over to the Melrose Avenue haggle-haven, London Boots.  My standard LA Melrose Ave shopping procedure includes haggling like there is no tomorrow and being sorely disappointed for paying the ticketed price on anything.  Naturally, I shmoozed and found the perfect blend of good cop/bad cop to talk down the salesman who clearly did not know who he was dealing with.

I picked up these treasures and happily wore them for almost the rest of my trip.  They are perfect daytime boots and can be worn any number of ways.  Snag a pair of your own moto-chic boots and you will feel "kick-someone-in-the-teeth-and-ride-away-on-your-hog" cool.  I found the Frye boots that the girl was wearing and decided the ones I bought looked better on my feet.  Here are some other great boots that you can get to achieve the same hard edge look.  The second pair is the pair that the fab girl was wearing!  (Yes I remember...creep, I know.)

And a Flip Flop in a Pair Tree

Photobucket

I have recently discovered this adorable alternative to my messy box o' flip flops, My Pair Tree!  If you are like me and love to be able to see all of your footwear options at once, My Pair Tree is the perfect organization tool for you.

I think that this cute shoe rack would be especially perfect for a child's room.  Since it comes in a variety of hues and patterns (my favorites are the leopard and the pink/green stripes) you could mix and match the hangers on the back of a door or in a walk-in closet.  The hangers are very well made and are sturdy enough to hold heavier flip flops a la Jack Rogers.  (My collection could fill up a whole tree!)  Since the hangers are versatile and not just specific to shoes, you can also hang scarves, belts, necklaces, you name it!  Join the Facebook page for giveaways and updates!

{Neekoh, Mel, and Me at Cha Cha Chicken}

While I was in LA I had the pleasure of meeting two fabulous fashionistas, Mel from Wrecked Stellar and Neekoh from LiveLoveLA.  They both have amazing style and wonderful personalities to match!  We had a yummy lunch at Cha Cha Chicken in Santa Monica and had a great time!  Thanks girls for not thinking I am a creepy internet weirdo.  Love y'all!  Check out their blogs for an epic dose of fashion inspiration.  I wore a one shoulder white dress from a local boutique, a vintage belt, vintage gold bracelet, and a gold tassel bracelet from Banana Republic.  Can't wait for more blogger friend meet-ups!

Jet Setting

{First night in Vegas...Enjoying the Santa Monica Sun...Lobby of The Venetian}

If you have been wondering where I have been post-cleanse failure, I have been jet setting around the US with some of my best friends.  Since the obvious post-cleanse destination is Las Vegas, I took a three day trip to Sin City followed by a week in LA.  I had a fabulous time full of the perfect blend of first class accommodations and sleeping two-deep with my 6 foot friend on an air mattress in my friend's living room.  (Side Note:  Said living room looked like a scene from "Hoarders" by the end of the week.  Too bad our suite at The Venetian did too.)

After a long night of learning to play blackjack, I awoke the next morning to a copious amount of casino chips in my clutch.  (Must clarify that they were casino chips because it would not be that unreasonable for me to find potato chips in my purse...snacks, of course.)  Naturally, I obliged the Las Vegas Gods and spent my winnings on a plethora of clothes, shoes, and accessories during my trip to Los Angeles.  (It just wouldn't seem right to save my gambling winnings or do something silly like "saving for the future."  Sheesh.)  Here are some of my favorite ensembles of my trip.  Some old pieces, some new, some borrowed, some....blue.  (Okay, I had to say that.  Apologies.)  I will be posting about some of my outfits in detail this week, so many things that I am so loving right now!

The Cleanse

Photobucket
{The goods}

I have the will power of a 500 pound hoarder.  (Okay, maybe not with everything, but definitely in this case.)  I am okay with my lack of dedication because with every failure, you learn something new.  With this failure, I learned I am terrible at dieting and I never want to see a kale leaf...ever again.  Still wondering what I am talking about?  I attempted a juice cleanse.  Key word: Attempted.

{Mmm breakfast}

I have been feeling somewhat sluggish lately and thought that this cleanse would be the perfect start to feeling awesome.  Also, I am going to Los Angeles and Las Vegas on Thursday and wanted to look great on my trip.  Well, it was a good idea...in theory.  Thankfully for you all, I have a lot of great advice if you have the will to try it for yourself.

I discovered the Red Carpet Cleanse company through a Daily Candy email last week.  I was immediately drawn to it not only because the company gives their cleanse schedule and recipes away for free, but also because this cleanse includes actual fruits and vegetables instead of water, maple syrup, lemons, and cayenne pepper.  If you simply register on their site they will email you PDF files of the exact details of the diet, smoothie recipes, and a grocery list!

{A rainbow of juices}

This juice cleanse is only one day and requires you to have a juicer and a blender.  (And mad dedication, of course.)  I wanted to do the cleanse for two days...good idea Sarah.  I knew that if I were to actually do the cleanse, I would need to make all my juices before I actually started the cleanse.  Two days before, limit (or eliminate) meat and sugar from your diet.  I also tried to limit my dairy intake as well.

{Kinda looks like a rainbow...kinda looks like vomit}

To be perfectly honest, the juices do not taste that bad.  I am a big "texture person" and did not mind them at all.  Most of the juices just taste like you are drinking a cucumber...which isn't all that bad.  Kind of refreshing actually.  Since I obviously admitted that I failed at keeping up my juice diet, here are some tips I have for anyone who considers taking on the challenge.  In case you are wondering, I basically made it through one day.  I didn't experience any strange "bathroom issues" and I never even felt jittery.  I will attempt to do this cleanse again and I will follow my own advice next time!  Please let me know if you have any questions, I am more than happy to share my experience and hopefully help you all will actually stick to it!

{My slumber party get-up}

My fabulously chic and adorable friend Mel over at Wrecked Stellar hosted a cyber-sleepover this past weekend!  (No, not the creepy kind.)  Mel asked each guest to send in a photo of their PJ ensemble and posted the photos on her blog.  I was honored to be on the guest list!  If you are looking to expand your blog roll, bookmark Wrecked Stellar to get your fashion fix!  Here's my sleepover photo, obvi had to rep the Gators!  I wore a Florida Gators hoodie, J Crew neon pink V-neck tee, LuLu Lemon shorts, and Juicy Couture tube socks!

Hola mis amigos!  Today is Cinco de Mayo, an excuse for everyone in America to drink tequila and don obnoxiously large sombreros.  To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, here is some Mexi-llent inspiration for your fabulous fiesta.  Pile on the colorful bangles on both wrists, grab a Skinnygirl Magarita, and dance the night away in your sky-high espadrilles!

Just call me Master Sarah

Photobucket
{Hey, I graduated}

Did ya miss me?  If you have been losing sleep wondering where I have been, I had to do this whole graduating graduate school thing.  I made it through exams, donned an interesting flesh-colored hood, and from this point forward, I shall be referred to only as Master Sarah.  Since I have a significant amount of free time now, I will make up for lost time with a plethora of musings and shameless self-promoting posts.  Here are some photos to catch you up with my life and what I have been wearing.

Happy Friday

Photobucket

Happy Friday y'all!  I might be a tad MIA for a couple days since I have finals on Monday and Tuesday...so don't forget about me!  So far my methods of procrastination have included painting my nails, cleaning my baseboards, and making four dozen cupcakes and muffins....so blogging may be next.  (At least that doesn't have any calories or require any physical labor.)  Oh yeah, did I mention that my finals will be my last exams ever before I get my masters?  I will be DONE!  Wish me luck!

Vintage Inspirations: Scarves

Photobucket
{Audrey and Jackie O: Classic Scarf Fashion}

I love a good vintage find.  Lately I have found some priceless diamonds in the rough during my vintage shop browsing.  In particular, I am obsessed with the 1960's and 1970's vintage scarves I have found.  Scarves are classic accessories that can be used in a number of ways.  Tying a colorful scarf on your handbag will create a personal and trendy look.  Bad hair day?  A beautifully patterned scarf will distract from your bed head.
